Qamea and the surrounding islands offer a wide range of activities and adventures:
BOUMA WATERFALLS - Enjoy the thrill of exploring this pristine Heritage Park. Here you can swim under three spectacular waterfalls cascading through lush rainforest. The trail to the first waterfall is relatively flat and is adjacent to a scenic river enshrouded with tropical foliage and flowers. The journey to the next two waterfalls will take you on a moderate climb of 100 feet (with stairs and railings where needed). Swimming in the tropical pools under all of the waterfalls is a pleasure enjoyed by all. Our activities coordinator will happily provide you with a picnic lunch and a guide should you desire.
LAVENA NATURE WALK - Take an all day adventure walk at the filming location of the second Blue Lagoon movie. This guided walk will take you along a white sandy beach with views onto beautiful rock pools. We will take you across two rivers and pass through remote villages before ascending a river valley past two beautiful waterfalls. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, you can slide down the water chute or jump into the rock pools from the high walls.
INTERNATIONAL DATELINE & NA I VAKA NATURAL WATERFALL SLIDE TOUR - Each new day begins on the Island of Taveuni. The International Dateline (180 degree meridian) is one of the few places on land in the world where you can have one foot in each day. This is a full day tour where you will be transported by private vehicle and guided by our driver. Along the way our driver will stop at a trail for an easy hike through a jungle of fragrant ginger plants which ends at the beautiful Na i vaka waterslide. This is a natural waterslide that will make you feel as if you are in the movie "Jungle Book" - amazing fun!
CIRCLE QAMEA ISLAND TOUR - Qamea is Fiji's 12th largest island, and its most beautiful. As there are no roads on Qamea, the best and only practical way to take in all of its beauty is by way of a full day boat tour. The trip around Qamea Island leaves our resort at around 11:00 am and returns at about 5:00PM. Along the way there will be several stops to view local attractions, snorkelling, and a picnic lunch on Lagalaga Island (sometimes known as Fantasy Island by our guests), which is a beautiful, albeit tiny, uninhabited island just off shore from Qamea Island.
VUNEVASA PLANTATION WATERFALLS AND CULTURAL HIKE - Join us for a three to four hour Fijian cultural hike on Taveuni Island on a working 3,000 acre plantation called Vunevasa directly across the channel from our resort. Your adventure will begin with a ride atop a long flat bed farm truck through the plantation and up into the mountain foothills where you will see and learn first hand how copra (coconut), pineapples, yaqona (kava), cassava (tapioca), dalo (taro) is cultivated. You will then find yourself on the top of a high ridge at the site of an ancient Fijian fort and village site with stunning views toward Qamea and a myriad of distant islands. You will then hike a well groomed trail down into a valley, across streams, and along a meandering river. On this hike you will also see the ruins of an ancient Fijian village, protection walls, and burial ground. Throughout the trail there are signs with historic information and photographs provided by the National Museum in Suva, in addition to a trained Vunevasa staff member in the history of Fiji to answer any questions you might have. At the end of the trail you will come upon a spectacular waterfall that will leave you speechless. At the waterfall a picnic lunch will be served, and there will be plenty of time to further explore the river valley, to swim below the falls, or to just relax and take in the magic of this South Pacific rainforest paradise. Throughout the tour your Fijian guide will teach you about the flora and fauna of the area as well as Fijian history. This is a tour that should not be missed and is fast becoming our most popular.
